From Barcelona to Brazil — Stories Steeped in Culture, Coffee & Connection
Hi IMK Friends,
Grab a coffee and read on!
I’ve just returned from a memorable and inspiring trip through Barcelona and Mallorca, two places that truly invite you to slow down and savour. But I have to admit, my Mum and I didn’t slow down, each day was full and we were truly living in the moment. We were gone for 10 days and it felt like we were gone for a month, I love that. My new favourite place is Mallorca, specifically Sóller. I will do a podcast episode on this trip, and share more details. But picture hiking in the terraced olive groves of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, sipping cortados in the Gothic Quarter to wandering Gaudí’s whimsical spaces. Every moment reminded me to be present and soak it all in. I was also reminded that that can happen on the go, we don’t need to be “still”.
On this trip, I took our soon-to-launch In My Kitchen Travel Journal for its very first test run. She is still getting her cover designed (more on that soon!), but I couldn’t resist bringing her along to capture the scents, sights, and spontaneous moments that make travel meaningful. I especially enjoyed the pre-trip prompts that helped me travel with intention. I loved the 5 mins of writing during my travels that were prompted with Character Strength practices. When I got home, the next morning with my coffee I filled out the post trip reflections. I am so excited to share this with you all, I truly found the experience with our journal invaluable.
Speaking of a cup of coffee, our latest podcast episode is a journey all on its own. I sit down with Cristina Dias, founder of Mogiana Coffee in Vancouver, Canada whose family has been growing coffee in Brazil since 1890. We talk about the rhythm of Brazilian life, long lunches, grazing-style barbecues, and the ritual of cafezinho (little coffee) shared among friends, and how Cristina brings those same values of hospitality, sustainability, and community into her business today.

You’ll hear stories of:
☕️ A family coffee farm that built a school for 700 children
🌿 The sustainable practices that make every Mogiana bean meaningful
🇧🇷 How Brazilian hospitality turns a cup of coffee into connection
Listen now and be transported to the hills of Minas Gerais — where good coffee, family, and community are woven together one bean at a time.
Slow down (in your mind 😉), savour, and smile.
Warmly,
Paula
